In general, there is a stigma surrounding art degrees in universities, both in society at large and at UNF. As a designer, I can see how this perception might be reflected in the Art Department. To address this issue, I teamed up with three other designers—Justin Luong, Jake Woodard, and Cameron Snyder—to develop a marketing campaign aimed at reversing this stigma.
The goal of the campaign was to increase visibility and attract both students and parents to the UNF Art Department. To create a more engaging environment, I designed a set of seven icons representing the various departments: Art History, Printmaking, Graphic Design, Ceramics, Sculpture, Painting & Drawing, and Photography.
Additionally, to inform students, parents, and faculty about the Art Department, I designed a 26-page catalog outlining the courses, potential career opportunities, and more.
OVERVIEW:
TARGET MARKET:
University Students, Parents, and Faculty Members
The CHALLENGE was the lack of community within UNF’S Art Department. The SOLUTION was to establish a visual identity for all departments creates a unified system that can extend to various other platforms such as social media. There was a concern of potential favoritism towards the Graphic Design Program, therefore the GOAL was to ensure visibility and recognition for all the programs.

SURVEYS:
Based on student surveys conducted by myself and the rest of my group (Cameron Snyder, Jake Woodard, Justin Luong), we found out that the percentages of those who are not in an Art major, weren’t familiar with the Art Department.
Continuing the surveys, we found that the students who were familiar with the Art Department is because:
60% took an art class
31% talked with professors/teachers
28.9% found out with social media
COMPETITIVE RESEARCH:
The team did competitive research on the art programs at UF, UCF, and our local competitor, FSCJ. This research aimed to define our objectives and innovate a solution that either hasn't been attempted previously or, if it has, to surpass existing standards.
